Fair by design

How our algorithm ranks listings

The order is set by the listing itself, not by who pays. A complete free listing ranks above a paid but incomplete one.

The principles

Four rules behind the algorithm

Quality sets the order

Ranking follows how complete and up to date a listing is — photos, a real description, pedigree, price and location. A thorough listing climbs on its own.

A paid plan doesn't decide the order

A subscription gives a small edge only between listings of similar quality. It never lifts a weaker listing above a better one — quality wins.

Paid promotion is separate and always labelled

Spotlight and Featured are a paid layer with a clear label. They don't touch the regular, quality-based order.

Real interest counts

When buyers save a horse or message you, the listing rises a little. Genuine interest is part of the signal — not a paid slot.

In your hands

What makes a strong listing

Everything that lifts a listing is in your hands — on any plan, including free.

  • Add several clear photos from different angles
  • Write a full description in more than one language
  • Fill in pedigree, discipline and level
  • Set a price, even as a range or negotiable
  • Add the horse's location
  • Keep it up to date — refresh the listing when details change

Why Equihorn

A human-run project for people around horses

Equihorn is built and run by one person who cares about horses, families and good software. It's a paid project because running it well takes time and resources — not a faceless catalogue.
